Inverness, Scotland, UK 14th May 2017 UK News: A wild fire, reportedly affecting an area of about 2.5 sq km. rages above Inverness in the Scottish Highlands, less than 5km from the city centre. Firefighters had to work throughout the night to bring the blaze under control.
The wildfire has come during a period of about two weeks of dry weather in the Highlands, and is one of a number of such incidents in the region.

Glen Etive is a glen in the Highlands of Scotland. The River Etive rises on the peaks surrounding Rannoch Moor, with several tributary streams coming together at the Kings House Hotel, at the head of Glen Coe.

Inverness Castle sits on a cliff overlooking the River Ness, in Inverness, Scotland. The red sandstone structure evident today was built in 1836 by architect William Burn. There has been a castle at this site for many centuries. Today, the castle houses Inverness Sheriff Court. Whilst the main part of the castle itself is not currently open to the public, in April 2017 the north tower of the castle was opened to the public as a view point, providing spectacular views over the city.

The Kelpies are 30-metre high horse-head sculptures, standing next to the Forth and Clyde Canal, in The Helix, a parkland project in the Falkirk Council Area, Scotland. Designed by sculptor Andy Scott and bult from stainless steel by SH Structures, of Yorkshire. The Kelpies are mystical water-borne equine creatures which celebrate the horse’s role in industry and agriculture throughout Scotland. Visible from the M9 Motorway which runs from Edinburgh to Stirling.
